Jonathan Glendening   Director, Producer, Co-writer

Ian has produced a number of productions for theatre and film.  Credits include being the writer/producer of ‘Re-inventing Eddie’ with John Lynch, Geraldine Somerville & John Thomson.  He is the producer of ‘Going Off Big Time’ featuring Bernard Hill & Sarah Alexander & Paul Kaye.  He produced ‘Soldiers Leap’ featuring Rupert Graves.  He also wrote and produced ‘Kopping Off at the OK corrall’ in 1997 which achieved a nomination for Best Short at the National Royal Television Society Awards in 1997.  He has also produced ‘The Crew’ in 2008 wiith Stephen Salter, a decade on from Summer Rain.

Stephen is a production executive and has worked at Olswang, a leading firm of UK lawyers specializing in media and entertainment law and advisors to US Studio and UK independent films such as ‘Gangs of New York’.  He previously worked as a production executive at the international sales agent Intermedia Film Equities, the financier of ‘Sliding Doors’.   He also wrote and produced Jonathan’s second short film ‘The Perfect Murder’ that won two international awards at film festivals.  He was also the co-author of the Netribution Funding Guide in 2001.  He recently produced ‘The Crew’ with Ian Brady.

Crew

Summer Rain was the debut feature of multi award winning director Jonathan.  He made his first film when he was 11, won his first award at 14 and has never looked back.  He has worked for Kenneth Branagh & Robert De Niro and was the director’s assistant on The Madness of King George.  He has now made four award winning shorts and three feature films, ‘S.N.U.B!’ and ‘13Hrs’ starring Tom Felton, John Lynch and Simon McKorkindale.

Chris was born in Manchester in March 1969.  He keeps writing despite what his critics say.  His projects include sci-fi thriller ‘Viable Target’, an ensemble piece, Ten Short Stories About The End of The World’ and the action adventure movie ‘Tracer’.  He also wrote ‘The Night Bus’ for the stage.  He lives with his wife and two children in Wales and spends his time writing and sleeping.  His commentary track can be heard on the DVD with Jonathan Glendening.  He can also be seen talking about his inspiration in ‘Summer Rain goes to Hollywood’.

IAN BRADY   Co-Producer

Summer Rain was the very first film to be financed through the break-through tax scheme originated by David Rogers and ‘Great British Films’.  The pioneering scheme proved to be such a success that David went onto executive produce a huge number of films and ‘Great British Films’ went onto be one of the foremost film finaceers in the country.  David still heads the company, now founded as ‘Premiere Pictures’.

DAVID ROGERS   Executive Producer

ADAM BETTERIDGE     Executive Producer

Adam, by coincidence, was a friend of Jonathan’s who originally helped with the script read through’s and auditions.  However, he was independently head-hunted from University to join ‘Great British Films’, and it was partly due to his influence that Summer Rain was ever completed.  When the film faced financial problems he managed to guide the film to a finished state.  Since then he has gone on to produce a huge variety of films for Great British Films and heads their current incarnation as ‘Premiere Pictures’ as the head of Production.

Peter’s impressive career includes working at Aardman Animation and doing the steadicam on hits such as ‘Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrells’, ‘Snatch’, ‘High Heels & Low Life’ and numerous commercials.  ‘Summer Rain’ is his second collaboration with Jonathan Glendening, the first being the award winning short ‘La Belle Dame Sans Merci by John Keats’.  Although Peter picked up a nomination for Best Photography at the B-Movie Theatre Film Festival in Syracuse, USA and won ‘Best Cinematography’ at the Honolulu Film Festival he remains typically modest about his work, saying in Fuji Film magazine the film was ‘best forgotten’.

Iain’s incredible dedication to Summer Rain saw his association to the project span over two years. Together, he and Jonathan sneaked into Post Production facilities, hijacking other projects edit suites at weekends, digitizing in footage on Saturdays, editing Sunday’s and wiping the drives ready for Monday.  Iain’s passion was impressive and his support certainly encouraged Jonathan during the more difficult times of the production.   Iain is now an incredibly successful editor and in constant work and demand.  He also went onto to edit Jonathan’s second feature film ‘S.N.U.B!’

BEN BEAUMONT    First Cut Editor

Ben made an outstanding conrtibution to Summer Rain.  When the film ran out of money in 1998, Ben kindly gave up his free time to edit promotional trailers to raise completion finance.  He also cut togetehr the film with the five weeks of footage that existed so that, worst came to worst, it could have been sold as a one hour drama (despite making little sense due to missing scenes) - this cut became known as ‘Brighton Girls’.  Without Ben’s contribution Summer Rain would never have raised the completion finance due to his outstanding promotional trailer.  Sadly, he wasn’t available to edit the final cut of the movie.  He has since gone onto produce his own feature films.  His sister Daisy stars in Summer Rain as ‘Carly’.

ATLANTA COOK     Production Designer

Atlanta was an integral part of the vision for Summer Rain.  Having worked as a club promoter, lighting designer in Brighton she knew the scene and people that Summer Rain was trying to portray.  She was able to assemble a Brighton crew, performers and facilities to fulfil her vision for the look of ‘Brighton’.

TYRA ARIEN    Make Up

KAREN CRUICKS     Costume Designer

Karen is the designer and creator of Cybertart clothing, a clothing range that sells world wide.  She previously worked in costume areas, designing and creating imaginative performance pieces and theatre costumes and this naturally invited film and TV opportunities.  As well as making costumes on Summer Rain, the look and feel of the characters were also put together infusing many local clothing companies.  As costume co-ordinator she worked on two other local films adn trailers.  Since then, Cybertart clothing has been seen on Ch.4. Absolutely Fabulous and Sky’s Dream Team.  www.cybertartclothing.com

Tyra became an integral part of the creative vision for Summer Rain.  Through her make up she perfectly captured the Brighton scene of the late 90’s.  She was also a loyal supporter of the film and not only did the 1998 stint but the 1999 finale too.  Nearly all the boys had a crush on her.
